Our Story

Three Generations of Expertise

EAS Team Brian & Andrew
1974

Brian Latham Creates "Sound Advice"

After 13 years with the GPO (now BT), Brian formed his first sound company, developing a passion for professional PA design.

1988

Electronic Audio Systems Ltd Founded

Eric Sawkins – who trained as an electronics engineer at Marconi in Chelmsford and worked for UK PA manufacturers – established EAS Ltd. Eric was a Board Member of the Association of Public Address Engineers alongside Brian Latham.

1984–2011

400 Sound Systems Installed

Eric and his team installed nearly 400 sound systems in churches, community centres, offices, factories, leisure centres, industrial and retail premises – each tailored to the client's specific requirements.

1989

Wembley Stadium

Brian and Andrew supplied equipment & fibre optic cabling for the Wembley Stadium concert and crowd safety sound system renovation.

Dec 2011

Brian Latham Takes Charge

When Eric retired, Brian took over the company. EAS Ltd moved to Wendover, Buckinghamshire – beginning its second chapter.

2018

Andrew Latham Takes Charge

Following a large event in Windsor, Andrew Latham – a member of the Institute of Sound, Communications & Visual Engineers since 1998 – took over. Andrew had worked in audio since leaving school in 1990, including previous roles designing, documenting and installing systems for Eric.

End of 2024

Moved to Kent

The company moved to Tonbridge, Kent – its third county – welcoming enquiries from London, across the South East and beyond. Andrew continues to serve valued existing clients while expanding the company's activities.
